Stocks took a hard left turn to yesterday's sell off, jumping more than 0.5 percent thanks to a surge in crude oil. The energy sector was the best performer on Wall Street. Small-cap Alliance Fiber Optic Products (AFOP) surged after display screen manufacturer Corning (GLW) - Get Report agreed to an acquisition. Twitter (TWTR) - Get Report has named two new additions to its board. The social network said PepsiCo (PEP) - Get Report chief financial officer Hugh Johnston and LastMinute.com founder Martha Lane Fox would join the board effective immediately. DepoMed (DEPO)  jumped after activist investor Starboard Value disclosed a 9.8% stake. The firm, now the drugmaker's third-largest shareholder, called into question its corporate governance and questionable capital allocation decisions.
