U.S. stocks fluctuated in choppy trading on Wednesday as investors waited on minutes from the latest meeting of the Federal Reserve. The majority of members voted to keep rates unchanged near crises levels at the September meeting, though there were three dissenters to that decision. Job openings fell in August, according to the latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. Openings hit an all-time high in July so a small retreat was to be expected. Stanley Black & Decker (SWK) - Get Report rose after agreeing to acquire Newell Brands' (NWL) - Get Report tools business. The nearly $2 billion all-cash deal is expected to close in the first half of next year. Barracuda Networks (CUDA) climbed after topping second-quarter earnings and sales forecasts.
