Midday Report: Nordstrom Considers Going Private; Wall Street Watches Comey Hearing

Wall Street fluctuated as the country held riveted by former FBI director James Comey's public Senate testimony. When asked, Comey said he had "no doubt" that Russian government officials had attempted to interfere in the 2016 election. Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX) rose after agreeing to sell iNova Pharmaceuticals for $930 million in an all-cash deal. The deal is expected to close in the second half of the year. J.M. Smucker (SJM) - Get Report was lower even after topping quarterly earnings estimates. Sales declined 1%, though did manage to come in higher than analysts' target. Nordstrom (JWN) - Get Report led the S&P 500 after announcing that the retailer was exploring the possibility of a "going private transaction." The company's board has formed a special committee to weigh the option.
