Midday Report: NetSuite Soars on Oracle Deal; Ford, Boeing Slide
Another heavy day on the earnings front kept investors busy. Stocks trended downward on a big earnings miss from Ford (F) - Get Report , while production worries at Boeing (BA) - Get Report pressured the Dow Jones Industrial Average. NetSuite (N) shot higher after Oracle (ORCL) - Get Report agreed to buy the software developer for $109 a share. The $9.3 billion deal is expected to close this year. Dow Chemical (DOW) - Get Report reported a slightly narrower drop in revenue than expected, though currency headwinds continued. The company achieved its 15th straight quarter of earnings growth. Dow is currently working to have a deal with DuPont (DD) - Get Report approved. Whole Foods (WFM) slumped after reporting a decline in profit for its fourth quarter in a row. The supermarket chain also posted a faster drop in comparable sales than anticipated. TheStreet's Keris Lahiff reports from Wall Street.
