Midday Report: Harley-Davidson Sees U.S. Sales Drop; U.S. Stocks Mixed
The Dow and S&P 500 sported modest gains tied to a rebound in crude near the $41-a-barrel level. Netflix (NFLX) - Get Report and IBM (IBM) - Get Report dragged on the tech-heavy Nasdaq after reporting earnings after the bell Monday. Netflix was hit with a number of analyst revisions following a disappointing forecast for subscriber additions. Analysts at Credit Suisse, KeyBanc and Oppenheimer each lowered their price targets. Harley-Davidson (HOG) - Get Report fell after quarterly sales in the U.S. slipped 0.5 percent. The motorbike company said retail sales trend have improved in recent months, though, and expects full-year sales to climb between one percent and three percent. Panera Bread (PNRA) rose following an upgrade to OVERWEIGHT from SECTOR WEIGHT at KeyBanc. Analysts said the company has reached an earnings inflection point.
