Midday Report: Disney's 'Jungle Book' Dominates; Stocks Climb
Stocks turned higher by the middle of the session as Disney (DIS) - Get Report boosted the consumer sector, overshadowing a selloff in crude. Disney jumped after Pivotal Research upgraded the stock to BUY from HOLD, arguing investor concerns are already priced in. The world's largest entertainment company was on a roll after its recent live-action remake, The Jungle Book, topped the North American box office in one of the biggest April weekend openings on record. Forty-two percent of domestic sales were generated from 3-D and premium showings. Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report climbed after announcing it will allow consumers access to its services on a month-by-month basis. Prime Video will be offered as a standalone service at a cheaper cost to subscribers than Netflix's (NFLX) - Get Report offerings.
