U.S. stocks turned mixed by the middle of the session on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed on the back of gains in DuPont (DD) while higher crude prices lifted the energy sector. Apple (AAPL) shares were slightly lower after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal regarding allegations of e-book price fixing. The tech giant must now pay $450 million to end the suit, the bulk of which will be distributed to e-book customers. AMC Networks (AMC) jumped after committing to repurchase $500 million worth of shares. The new share buyback program represents 10% of its current market value. Sprint (S) climbed after controlling shareholder Softbank (SFTBF) announced plans to split into two companies. TheStreet's Keris Lahiff reports from Wall Street.
