Microsoft Nabs 'Minecraft', UPS Seeks Help and Bezos Blasts Off

Microsoft announced this week it’s buying Mojang, the Stockholm-based game developer behind the 'Minecraft' franchise for $2.5 billion. 'Minecraft' is one of the most popular video games ever with more than 100 million downloads on PCs alone since its launch in 2009. Meanwhile, UPS announced Tuesday it plans to hire approximately 90,000 seasonal employees to deal with the holiday surge that will begin in October and continue through January 2015. Finally, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to build a rocket engine to replace the Russian mainstay used in American unmanned launches. United Launch Alliance, a venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin, said Wednesday it will pay Bezos' Blue Origin space firm to develop the new rocket engines.
