The latest Michael Bay-produced flick 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' held onto the top spot at domestic box offices for a second weekend in a row. The film, backed by Viacom’s Paramount Pictures, has generated more than $117 million in North America. After little more than a week in theaters, it’s the twelfth highest-grossing movie of the summer. But this isn’t the first of Bay’s Paramount movies that have made an explosion at the box office -- Bay also has 'Transformers' and 'Bad Boys' on his resume. Car chases and explosions aren't cheap though. Of the last five movies Bay directed, average production costs totaled $156.2 million. TheStreet's Keris Lahiff reports from New York.
