With the U.S. locked in a trade war with China, more retailers should consider investing in American manufacturing. Doing so may not only improve product quality, but also position a company to respond quicker to consumer preferences in this digitally led era.

Making suits in America is something that menswear designer Joseph Abboud championed years ago. He continues to drive home the mission via his suit manufacturing facility in New Bedford, MA.

"I think people appreciate made in America," Abboud told TheStreet. Abboud said his facility in New Bedford will be expanded to handle the demand it's continuing to see.
