Memorial Weekend Was A Box Office Flop

U.S. theatres recorded the lowest Memorial Day box office revenues since 1999 as films failed to get people to spend their dollars and sit in seats.

Paramount (PGRE) had hoped that the new movie Baywatch would make its mark with significant star power from the Rock and Zac Efron but it failed to get the attention they had hoped for.

Pirates of the Caribbean topped a rather lackluster set of revenues with $77 million, according to comScore. However, Dead Men Tell No Tales was the second-worst box office opening in franchise history. Disney (DIS)  won't be oo disappointed though as the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has taken $4billion.
