It's been a tough year for McDonalds. Their stock has been consistently down for most of the year, they have had some of their own workers arrested for protesting on their headquarters in May, and their August earnings were their worst monthly earnings since 2003. Now, they are experiencing problems internationally. In the past four weeks, Rospotrebnadzor--the Russian Federal Consumer Protection Agency--has shut down 12 McDonald's restaurants due to substandard sanitation. 100 more locations will continue to be inspected. Global sales is a large part of McDonald's overall earnings, and currently, the company has more than 430 restaurants in 75 regions throughout Russia.
