McDonald's Leads Consumer Stocks and the S&P 500 Scores a New Record
The S&P 500 ended the day at new records with just small gains. Consumer stocks did most of the heavy-lifting, led by McDonald's Corp. (MCD) - Get Report which rallied following an upgrade from Longbow Research.
Roku Inc. (ROKU) - Get Report rocketed more than 50% in its market debut on the Nasdaq. The streaming-device company had priced its initial public offering at $14 a share, a price it easily outpaced earlier in the day.
BlackBerry Ltd. (BBRY) surged after reporting a surprise second-quarter profit. The tech company reported an 8% increase in enterprise software and service sales and a 250% jump in licensing and IP revenue.
Hain Celestial Group Inc. (HAIN) - Get Report fluctuated after conceding to activist pressure and announcing changes to its board. The organic foods company will appoint six new directors.
