Masayoshi Son's SoftBank Group Unveils Reorganization
Masayoshi Son's Softbank Group Corp. on Monday said it will reorganize the company into two groups, one focused on the company's Japanese telecommunications business and investments and the other on international holdings, The Deal's Chris Nolter reports. The international group will include Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd. and Sprint Corp. The domestic group will include the SoftBank Japanese telecommunications business and a stake in the Yahoo! Japan joint venture with Yahoo! Inc. The investment securities held by Softbank Group will be transferred to each operations management company in phases. SoftBank said the timing and method of the transfer will be left to the discretion of Son, chairman & CEO of SoftBank Group. The transfer is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Nikesh Arora, Softbank president and chief operating Officer and a former executive of Alphabet Inc.'s Google Inc., will run the global business.
