Markets Mixed on Higher Jobless Claims, Better Consumer Spending
Jobless claims were higher and consumer spending had its biggest jump in almost 5 years during March while other economic data was broadly in line with expectations.
Markets closed mixed Thursday, the Dow and S&P lower while the Nasdaq was higher. Jobless claims were higher though consumer spending had its biggest jump in almost 5 years during March while other economic data was broadly in line with expectations. Higher M&A activity and a move between momentum and value stocks has contributed to intraday volatility. All eyes are to non-farm payrolls on Friday for a read on the health of the labor market.
