Markets Close Lower Wednesday as Oil Prices, Yahoo Decline

Wall Street gave up modest gains and closed to the downside in Wednesday's session. Falling oil prices pushed the market lower along with investors who were rattled by a shooting in Canada. One soldier was killed in Ottawa after being fatally shot by a gunman, who then entered the country's parliament building. One suspect was shot and killed. The possibility of an additional shooter has yet to be ruled out. The drop in oil prices carried over to energy stocks, making them one of Wednesday's biggest decliners. Crude Oil lost nearly 2.4 percent. Boeing (BA) shares fell despite beating earnings expectations. A busy day for earnings Thursday with Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon.com (AMZN) and General Motors (GM) report results. Airliners JetBlue (JBLU), Southwest Air (LUV) and United Continental (UAL) will also post their results.
