U.S. companies are pushing for a reform to the patent system proposed by members of congress by creating a lobbying group. The group wants to makes it harder for patent trolls to launch frivolous lawsuits against them. These patent assertion entities produce nothing but instead buy up patents and then attempt to extract licensing fees or sue for infringement. Companies like Pfizer are already on board along with additional support from Apple, General Electric and Microsoft.
