London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called on the U.K. government to reassess U.S. President Donald Trump's state visit invitation.

Speaking in an interview with Channel 4 News, Sadiq Khan said "I don't think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies fo against everything we stand for". The London Mayor doubled down on those comments on Tuesday morning, reaffirming his view that he is "not in favor of a state visit".

The comments come after the President of the United States hit out at the Mayor's reaction to a terrorist attack in the U.K's capital on Saturday night, particularly criticizing Khan's remark that Londoners have "no reason to be alarmed". A statement that Trump is accused of deliberately taking out of context.
