The networking giant beat quarterly earnings and sales expectations, but not by enough to excite investors. Now that its stock has been clipped, is it a good time to get in? And what about Cisco's (CSCO) M&A plans? TheStreet's tech columnist Eric Jhonsa and tech reporter Francesca Fontana give us the straight dope on Cisco's prospects.

In the clip above, Jhonsa explains why he isn't particularly bullish on the stock.

"It's not an awful company by any means-the valuation isn't terrible -- but I feel there are better deals out there," says Jhonsa.

While Cisco's executive team appears to have a good grasp on the company's challenges, the industry's dependence on hardware sales has resulted in sluggish growth across the board.
