Liquid alternatives outperformed hedge funds in 2015, but that won't cause investors to entirely abandon the pricey, exclusive investment vehicles. 'What we see now are investors combining liquid alternatives for ease of use and low cost and private funds for the specialty opportunities on the less liquid side,' said Lake. The Aston/Lake Partners LASSO Alternatives Fund are down around 1% in 2016, according to fund-tracker Morningstar.
