When it comes to being a celebrity, living the lavish lifestyle seems to come with the territory. But these celebrities went overboard when it came to splurging with -- or squandering -- their wealth.

Johnny Depp spends $2 million a month and indulges in excessive splurges, including blowing $75 million on 14 residences, $18 million on a luxury yacht and $30,000 a month on wine.

Kim Basinger was hit with a lawsuit in the early 1990s after backing out from a film called Boxing Helena. She was ordered to pay the production company $8.1 million.

Toni Braxton filed for bankruptcy twice, in 1998 and 2010. She settled her debts but lost rights to 27 of her songs.

Francis Ford Coppola has filed for bankruptcy three times over the course of a decade. In 1992, his assets were listed at $52 million and liabilities at $98 million.

In 2013, Janice Dickinson, the former supermodel, had nearly $1 million in debt from unpaid taxes and doctors' bills.

M.C. Hammer made more than $30 million in the early 1990s, but he lost most of it through excessive spending.

In 1978, talk show host Larry King was $350,000 in debt and filed for bankruptcy.

Willie Nelson owed $16.7 million in back taxes, penalties and interest in 1990. He settled his debts in 1993.

Burt Reynolds filed for bankruptcy in 1996, owing $10 million in debts. The case closed in 2007 but he faced foreclosure in 2011 for a 3.4-acre estate in Florida.

In 2003, Mike Tyson could no longer pay for his bills. He was $27 million in debt.
