TheStreet's Jim Cramer says Windstream is ‘a quiet little company’ that pays good dividends but has little growth because it is just a wire-line company. Windstream applied to the IRS to spin off its copper and fiber assets into a real estate investment trust and the IRS has just ruled that it’s okay. Cramer says that this was a total surprise that no one saw coming. This ruling could mean that companies like CenturyLink, Frontier, AT&T, Verizon and other big cable companies could all go up since they can now apply for the same ruling, allowing them to move a lot of their debt into a real estate investment trust and then become a growth company. Cramer thinks Windstream may be played out but he does like Verizon. According to Cramer, this ruling shows how there are lots of ways to win in the market investors didn't think possible at the beginning of 2014.
