The Dow and S&P were rising in intraday trading on Wednesday, March 24. The Nasdaq was lower in intraday trading, however.
And this came after stocks finished lower Tuesday, with bond yields retreating and oil prices plunging on worries a resurgence of the coronavirus could delay a reopening of the global economy.
Oil prices, TheStreet's Joseph Woelfel noted, rose Wednesday after the Suez Canal was blocked by a Taiwanese tanker that blew off course, creating a bottleneck that could slow the delivery of more than 13 million barrels of crude through one of the world's busiest waterways.
