Apple (AAPL) reports earnings Thursday evening.

Cramer used an anecdote from his dad's military experience to explain his hesitation about Apple.

He said that the marines (or, in this case--the rest of FANG) storm the beaches first in order to clear them for the following soldiers.

"The beaches haven't been cleared," for Apple, he said.

Do you know what to keep an eye on when the Apple release comes out after the bell?

If you don't, TheStreet's Eric Jhonsa has your back.

He wrote about the eight key things for any investor to watch when Apple reports this evening. Here's a break down of what he thinks is important.

  • iPhone volume
  • iPhone ASP trends
  • Services growth
  • Other products growth
  • Gross margin trends
  • China commentary
  • Mac and iPad sales
  • Stock buybacks

Jhonsa will also be following the Apple earnings and the call live on TheStreet. The live blog will go up right before the market closes Thursday afternoon.
