TheStreet’s Jim Cramer summed up disappointing retail sales numbers by saying, ‘if it’s not going into the home, it ain’t selling.’ The Commerce Department reported that retail sales slipped 0.1 percent in February, and January’s sales were revised to show a decline, instead of a previously reported increase. Cramer said when it comes to retail stocks, Home Depot (HD) is still a buy, and several accessories companies, like DSW (DSW) and Vera Bradley (VRA), stand out. He also pointed to Children’s Place (PLCE). Cramer added he’s also getting nervous about autos, although he likes Ford (F) for the yield. He said he was hoping that AutoNation (AN) and CarMax (KMX) might be making a comeback, but it light of the retail sales numbers, that might be premature. Jim Cramer is portfolio manager of Action Alerts PLUS.
