We have more updates on the coronavirus.

On Wednesday, Jim Cramer and I compared the coronavirus to the flu this season, but let's compare it to the SARS outbreak to build out the full picture.

There are nearly 8,000 cases of the coronavirus confirmed worldwide, with 170 deaths.

In China alone, the outbreak has already outpaced the SARS outbreak back in 2003, which infected over 5,000 people and killed 349 in China alone.

Worldwide, during SARS, there were a little over 8,000 cases confirmed, with 774 fatalities.

And on Thursday, there were reports that one of Carnivals  (CCL) cruise ships in Italy was being investigated for at least one potential case of coronavirus on board.

Carnival shares fell after Italian newswire service ANSA reported that a potential case of coronavirus onboard a Costa Crociere ship docked at the Italian port of Civitavecchia. Costa Crociere is a unit of Carnival, reported TheStreet's M. Corey Goldman.

When asked what was top of mind for Jim Cramer Thursday, he said that he's keeping a close eye on the companies being impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
