Stocks were lower in intraday trading on Wednesday, March 17.
The Federal Reserve is set to make a decision about interest rates later Wednesday and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will be speaking at a press conference following the release of the interest rates decision.
Powell is expected by economists to indicate the Fed will tolerate higher inflation to get the U.S. back to full employment.
"This focus on inflation is causing enhanced rotational action among equities and causing more stocks to move in a correlated way without regard to their individual merits," according to Real Money contributor James "Rev Shark" DePorre. "Interest rate worries undermine individual stock-picking, and that is what is making trading very difficult right now."
