The latest results of women in the workplace data show a common trend. Confidence pays. The difference between affluent female earners and the rest of the crowd is a sense of self assurance in their financial capabilities. They back their decisions with confidence. These high rolling women are younger than their male counterparts - 50 years old versus 63 for men. Big money women, are also better educated. 93% have a college degree, compared to 75% of high earning men and 35% have advanced degrees compared with 13% of men. Wealthy women's perceived expertise about investments and financial products is much higher than the general investor population. 64% see themselves as fairly knowledgeable and 11% consider themselves extremely knowledgeable. Another factor that sets high income women apart is their propensity to take risk. Nearly three quarters of those surveyed said taking risks was a big contributing factor to their wealth accumulation. They rated the other most important contributing factors as hard work, education, frugality and smart investing. As well as having confidence in your ability, the other defining factor for affluent women was their focus on a long term plan. A majority said that their financial decisions were driven by future concerns like children's finances and aging parents. So if you're working your way up to a take home that's over $200k a year, have confidence that you can take charge of your financial future.
