Few market players expected the iShares 20 Year+ Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) to surge last year, but problems in Europe could take it higher again in 2015, said Steve Laipply, Senior Fixed Income Strategist for iShares. Laipply added that yields are lower in a number of European countries compared to the US and the European Central Bank's quantitative easing program could pressure yields for a long period. He said the TLT is often a safe haven during European economic unrest. Finally, Laipply suggested investors might try the iShares Core Total USD Bond Market (IUSB) if they believe the TLT has grown too rich.
