Is the Minivan of the Future Here?

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCAU) - Get Report is trying to make cars cool for the next generation of families. It's less about barreling down the open road and more about making sure the riders are safe, comfortable and endlessly entertained via personalized entertainment and social media sharing capabilities. 

The Fiat Chrysler Portal concept was debuted at CES 2017. While it may not be in production yet, its highlights are the future of family cars. 

Facial and voice recognition 

The feature automatically recognizes the driver's and passengers' preferred settings as well as uses voice commands to unlock and open doors upon approaching the vehicle.

Vehicle-to-X (V2X) communication

This link allows the vehicle and infrastructure to "talk" to each other, such as intersection crash warning, traffic sign recognition and emergency vehicle approaching.

Seamless Connection to personal devices 

Phones, tablets, cameras and wearables are seamlessly connected to the car for a more personal experience.

Community sharing within the car 

Passengers have the ability to share music, images, and videos with other passengers.
