Mobile shopping has caused continued traffic declines to the nation's malls this year, something reflected in the sales and profits of Abercrombie & Fitch and J.C. Penney. But, more people buying on mobile devices from Apple and Google is also apparently impacting trips to outlet centers operated by Tanger Outlet and Simon Property Group. Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, Michael Kors and Ann Taylor, all big names found at outlets, voiced concern on traffic and sales trends in the third-quarter. With many retailers continuing to open locations at outlets, and mobile shopping only set to rise, is the outlet business doomed? TheStreet's Brian Sozzi reports.
