Investors Watching Federal Reserve Speakers Today
Bond traders return to their desks today with a lot on their plates. 6 Federal Reserve Officials will be speaking publicly today. Chairwoman Janet Yellen will make the welcoming remarks at a Fed Conference on post-crisis monetary policy in Washington. New York Fed President William Dudley will speak on the economic outlook at the New York Economics Club. Apple (AAPL) is in talks to develop a peer to peer payment service that would rival Paypal's Venmo. The Wall Street Journal says it would be an expansion of Apple pay. Walmart (WMT) is pulling back on the Black Friday hype this year. Last year, Walmart spread out its Black Friday deals over several days but this year it says the deep discounts on TVs, DVDs and apparel, will start at 6 pm Thanksgiving day and run till items sell out. The retailer says it will offer less drastic discounts through the holiday season.
