Curious about what you should be watching in tech and retail earnings this season? Amanda Agati, co-Chief Investment Strategist at PNC, has some thoughts on earnings season.
When asked if earnings beats and revenue misses were becoming the theme of this earnings season, Agati answered:
"We're not as focused on the revenue misses though as we are on the earnings results and also guidance for the second half of the year. We think actually the strength of, broad-based earnings growth across the market is an underappreciated positive. And we're starting to see that play out. We think the bar was set sufficiently low for Q2," she said. "And so we do think that we'll finish Q2 earnings season in a much better place than the market and the consensus had expected. And so we do think that that will be a key positive for the market going forward. So the story really continues to be largely around the trajectory of earnings growth. We're mindful of revenue growth, but it's really all, you know, coming down to earnings."
Agati also weighed in more specifically on Apple's earnings AAPL and what she expects, and whether or not the retail sector has truly survived the retail apocalypse.
