U.S. stocks closed higher Tuesday pushing the S&P 500 to a new intraday record. Economic data on inflation and the housing market also helped investor sentiment. But, it was none of those factors that pushed Herbalife (HLF) up more than 25 percent. Shares rose after billionaire investor Bill Ackman failed to give his 'death blow' presentation. Safety concerns are grounding Delta (DAL) and United and US Airways (UAL) flights to Israel. On the earnings front, Comcast (CMCSA), Verizon (VZ) and Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) all rose on positive Q2 results. Coca-Cola (KO) and McDonald's (MCD) shares fell after missing forecasts. Domino's Pizza (DPZ) was also a winner in today's trading. Set to report results on Wednesday are Boeing (BA), Pepsico (PEP) and Facebook (FB). TheStreet's Susannah Lee reports from Wall Street.
