European stocks open mixed as investors ride another wave of global equity market highs and prepare for one of the busiest corporate earnings sessions of the year.
Britain's FTSE 100 gained at the opening bell, according to financial bookmakers IG, with similar gains anticipated for markets in Italy a France. Germany's DAX performance index, however, may slip into the red as investors adjust prices against a two-and-a-half year high for the euro on foreign exchange markets.
Stocks in Asia reached their highest levels in nearly a decade in overnight trading as the benchmark MSCI Asia ex-Japan index rising more than 1% into the start of the European trading session.
