Ferrero Roche Play for Nestle

Ferrero makes a deal to buy Nestle for $2.8 billion.

Marking the Italian family-run company's largest push into the U.S. market Currently, Ferrero is the fifth largest in the U.S., Mars and Hershey make of the majority of the market. Followed by Nestle and Lindt & Sprungli.

Ferrero's U.S. Confectionary Push

The company has been making a push into the U.S. confectionery market. In March 2017, it bought Fannie May Confections Brands from Inc.

Ferrero Acquisition Spree

Ferrero has been on an acquisition spree since 2015, when it bought struggling U.K. confectioner and retailer Thorntons PLC. The Italian confectionary company is best known for its Ferrero Rocher chocolates, the company also owns favorites Nutella and Tic Tacs.

The deal would reportedly make Ferrero the third largest chocolate maker in the U.S.
