Humana Shares Dive on Insurance Membership Dip

Shares of Humana fell after a 37% drop in premium memberships was unveiled.

Humana (HUM) - Get Humana Inc. (HUM) Report shares dipped Wednesday after the health insurance giant unveiled that membership fell by about 1.17 million across its top insurance offerings, which are rated four stars or higher by Medicare Star Quality Ratings. This represents a dip of about 37% year over year. The company said the decline is "primarily attributable to the impact of lower scores for certain Stars measures as a result of the company's recently closed comprehensive program audit," which is conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Shares of Humana have been fluctuating sharply through 2016, but are now down about 6% over the past month.
