How the 'Humanization of Pets' Helps Drive Blue Buffalo's Growth
Pet food company Blue Buffalo kicked off a holiday pet adoption drive at the Nasdaq on Wednesday.
Pet food company Blue Buffalo (BUFF) kicked off the "Home 4 The Holidays" pet adoption campaign at the Nasdaq MarketSite on Wednesday. Since 1999, the annual three month campaign has resulted in more than 12 million pet adoptions. Kurt Schmidt, CEO of Blue Buffalo, rang the opening bell surrounded by pets in need of a home. Schmidt says his company has benefited by the 'humanization of pets,' and Blue Buffalo continues to expand domestically and internationally. The company has experienced about 10 percent annual growth each year, and Schmidt said he considers Blue Buffalo to be recession proof.
