How the GOP's New Health Care Plan Differs From Obamacare
The new health care plan has its differences from Obamacare.
Though Conservatives will likely have their say when the bill makes its to Congress, the American Health Care Act diverges from Obamacare in several key aspects. Individual tax credits replace federal insurance subsidies, eliminating the individual mandate. Instead of penalizing those who go without coverage, the new plan imposes a 30% surcharge if your coverage lapses. In addition, Planned Parenthood would be ineligible for Medicaid reimbursements.
The Republican plan would still allow parents to cover their kids until age 26, and also prevents insurers from denying coverage for preexisting conditions.
