How One Business Rebuilt After 9/11 While Continuing to Remember the Past
O'Hara's Pub stood in the shadows of the Twin Towers. Now, tourists flock to the bar to remember 9/11.
Since 9/11, new businesses have sprouted up in lower Manhattan, and other have rebuilt. One of those businesses is O'Hara's Pub, which has been serving up a cold one for over thirty years. Located just steps away from where the Twin Towers once stood, the pub served as the local hangout for area firefighters, many of whom were killed in 9/11. O'Hara's was forced to close after the terrorist attacks, and Michael Keane, one of the pub's owners, describes the challenges of rebuilding and trying to grow the business in the years that followed. It's now a popular tourist spot, but the bar still pays tribute to the emergency service workers who worked to save lives on 9/11.
