The number of recalled EpiPens in the U.S. and Canada is expected to swell. According to the FDA, recalled EpiPens "may contain a defective part that may result in the devices' failure to activate." 13 lots of EpiPens, distributed between Dec. 17, 2015 and July 1, 2016 have been affected so far.

Mylan will replace these EpiPens at no cost to patients. The recall follows one late last month concerning devices sold in Austrailia, New Zealand, Europe and Japan.
