The French company was founded in 2004 after oil giant Total restructured its chemical division.

Thierry Le Henaff has overseen the company since 2006 as Chairman and CEO. The businessman previously worked for KPMG, Bostik and Atofina.

Arkema has a workforce of nearly 20,000 employees cross 13 research centers and 137 production plants across Europe, North America and Asia. The manufacturer has annual sales of €7.5 billion.
