The rise of artificial intelligence is taking the use of technology to the next level, becoming more like a hotel concierge. Imagine a world where your needs are anticipated by the devices you use, before it’s necessary to give it a command. Ford Motor’s Futurist Sheryl Connelly calls it the ‘connected concierge.’ Connelly said, ‘Today's technology not only services your every need, they have actually started to anticipate things before you want them.’ The home has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of technology, Thermostat’s from Nest which learn when you want them on and off and Amazon’s (AMZN) Echo which is a voice-controlled smart home system. For automakers, like Ford, the possibilities around utilizing artificial intelligence and autonomous machines could one day lead to a self-driving car. ‘Imagine two cars following each other on the highway and the lead car starts to slow down, even if the second car is on cruise control, sensors on the vehicle will notice that deceleration before the mind or the eye can even recognize that change and it will adjust the second car's speed accordingly to keep a safe distance,' said Connelly.
