Houston Feels Less of an Impact From the Current Oil Industry Downturn Than in the Past

Whether it's technology or healthcare, diverse industries are helping Houston weather the current oil industry slump.

Houston's economy has diversified since the last oil industry downturn, and growth of industries like healthcare has helped cushion the blow from the current energy slump, according to Jamey Rootes, chairman of the board of the Greater Housing Partnership. Rootes also says Houston is now the most diverse city in America, and that diversity helps the economy too. Rootes also serves as president and CEO of the NFL's Houston Texans, and he discussed his outlook for this year's football season.
