Home Depot is investigating a potential payment data breach after detecting unusual activity. If a breach is confirmed, Goldman Sachs equity analyst Matthew Fassler isn't too concerned about prolonged negative impacts on Home Depot's traffic and share price. He said in a note that traffic and share loss associated with credit card breaches tend to be short-lived, based on the experiences of Target and others. For now, Home Depot asks that customers closely monitor their accounts and contact credit card issuers upon noticing unusual activity. It says customers will not be responsible for fraudulent charges and those affected will receive free identity protection services.
