1883 Milton S. Hershey founded a candy shop in Philadelphia and learned to make caramel.

1893Seeing chocolate-making machines at the World's Columbian Exposition, Hershey began to concentrate on chocolate manufacturing.

1900Began the manufacturing ofHershey's Milk Chocolate Barsin Lancaster, PA.

1907He introduced a bite-sized, flat-bottomed, conical-shaped piece of chocolate that he named "Hershey's Kiss".

1937A failed sit-down strike ended in violence, as loyalists and local dairy farmers beat many of the strikers. 

19696-years after a Reese/Hershey merger, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups became the company's top seller.

1988Hershey's acquired the rights to manufacture and distribute many Cadbury-branded products in the United States.

2016An attempt to sell Hershey to Mondelez International was scuttled because of objections by the Hershey Trust.
