An eclectic group of stocks are part of a new exchange traded fund that capitalizes on the sports industry.
Apple (AAPL) - Get Report , Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report , BP (BP) - Get Report and General Motors are part of the ProSports Sponsors ETF (FANZ) , which launched in July 2017 and posted a 17% return in its first year - which eclipsed the S&P 500 in that period.
"Apple saw what a big success Microsoft's (MSFT) - Get Report had with the Surface tablet in the NFL games - where you'd see a quarterback come off the field and look at the table to view plays," said Nick Fullerton CEO of Sports ETFs, the company behind the aforementioned ProSports Sponsors ETF.
Fullerton said Apple is now the official tablet of Major League Baseball and they have a tablet in every dugout.
GM, on the other hand, is the official truck of the NFL.
Fullerton said the recent Supreme Court ruling that allows states to legalize sports gambling is expected to add further investor interest in the sports space.
