Here's Why Alliance Data Systems Might Be Up for Sale

Alliance Data Systems (ADS) - Get Report  may be headed for a sale or breakup. Activist hedge fund ValueAct, run by Jeff Ubben, claimed an 11 percent stake in the company last week. The company produces branded credit cards for Pier 1 (PIR) - Get Report and Limited Brands (LTD) . Possible buyers may include Wells Fargo (WFC) - Get Report  and American Express (AXP) - Get Report , among other financial and technology firms.
