Here’s Why Small Business Optimism Is Stronger Than Ever
Small business owners are bullish. 'We produced a business leader outlook survey and spirits are high, optimism is stronger than it's ever been,' said Allison Bennett, chief marketing officer of Chase for Business (JPM) - Get Report , which serves four million small businesses nationwide. 'I think there is a strong push towards growth and we're seeing it in the performance of their business and our business as a result.' The success of many small businesses depend on consumers. Even though first quarter gross domestic product rose only 0.5 percent during first quarter, consumer spending rose 1.9 percent. Gregory Zamfotis, founder of Gregorys Coffee, a New York City-based chain of coffee shops, is bullish on the consumer. 'People are excited and happy to be out working these days,' he said. 'I feel like on a day-to-day business we have plenty of interaction with amazing people that come to our shops.' TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
