Here’s Why a Fiat Chrysler-Google Partnership Should Scare Investors
Fiat Chrysler (FCAU) - Get Report is reportedly in advanced talks with Alphabet (GOOGL) - Get Report , the parent company of Google, about a partnership to manufacture self-driving cars. While the relationship makes sense - given Alphabet's technology prowess combined with Fiat Chrysler's manufacturing capabilities, stockholders should be wary of a deal. That's in part because of recent reports suggesting quality issues with Fiat Chrysler vehicles and because the automaker is lagging behind rivals when it comes to producing electric or hybrid cars, the technology that would likely be used in a Google car one day.
